A bit of a bonus session on the River Orwell again today as was not really expecting much after yesterday’s good wind! Checked Landguard weather station which showed a WSW around 13 knots and as it was supposed to be a nice day again, sunny and warm I decided to hitch up the trailer and head over to the marina. Bumped into fellow foiler Jamie who works at the marina so stopped for a chat but the day was still very gloomy. Arrived at the windsurf beach as the sun started to appear and with a WSW gusting to 16 I started to rig my 7.8 but realised I had a broken battern and with the wind easing I quickly swapped to my 8.5 as Robert, Michael and Andy arrived, going to be crowded here today:) The others were in no hurry to go out with the winds looking very light so I was the guinea pig and set off, it was then a case of wait for a gust. There was very little wind down towards the dock so started to beat up towards Pin Mill where there were some good gusts but it was very up and down. I had to stop and take some pics of the most amazing sky, some super clouds set against a deep blue sky:) Another day for a bit of gybe practice but not ideal with the gusty winds, you often sailed in to light areas before you were ready to turn, if you tried in the middle of the gust you stood a chance of getting round, still not there but great fun trying! I then sailed back towards the corner to sail past the Ipswich leisure boat but the wind dropped away so headed ashore for my roll and to get some more pics of the clouds! Mag then arrived on her bike which was great, I decided to have one last try but the wind had gone apart from one good gust when I actually got my fastest speed! Came in, showered, then had a cuppa with Mag before packing up and heading home. Might be some wind from Sunday for a few days:)

I was wondering if you would like to take a minute to vote for my pic in this year’s Felixstowe Photo Competition. My picture is FFF in the seashore section – all votes are greatly appreciated:)
